Postdoc Position at Qatar University: Research Associate in Software Engineering


 

  
Description:

As part of a research project jointly awarded to Qatar University (QU) and West Virginia University (WVU), a Postdoctoral Research Associate (RA) is sought to assist in designing and developing a framework for architecture design reasoning, quality prediction and trade-off analysis for software architecture using Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques. The RA will also assist in the establishment of the International Centre of Excellence in Software Engineering at Qatar University.

This is an up to 3 year postdoctoral opportunity for PhD holders in Computer Science/Engineering. The position will start at the beginning of February 2011. The source of funding requires that the Postdoctoral Research Associate (RA) relocate to Qatar for the duration of the project.

There is a growing research environment in Qatar. The Qatari government has pledged 2.6% of the national GDP for research and development through various programs particularly the National Priority Research Program (NPRP) (http://www.qnrf.org), Qatar Science & Technology Park (http://www.qstp.org.qa) and Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI).

Required Qualifications:

  • Candidate must hold a PhD in Computer Science/Engineering.  Candidate should have research experience records in one or more of the following research area:
    • Software Engineering
    • Software Architecture
    • Knowledge Engineering
    • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Strong programming skills using high-level programming languages such as Java and/or C++. Experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques is also required.
  • Good publications record.
