A competition will be held to staff the position of RCMP Program Assistant on a permanent basis in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Liaison Office of the Canadian High Commission in Islamabad. This position is classified at Level 7, with a salary of PKR 88,635 per month, plus health care and other benefits.

Summary of Duties

Under the direction of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Liaison Officer (LO), the Program Assistant (PA) provides administrative services to support the Liaison Office. In the absence of LO the PA exercises initiative and discretion to ensure the achievement of program objectives and acts as replacement of LO performing duties such as reviews and analysis as well as liaison with the appropriate agencies. PA may be required to accompany the LO on operational travel. Confidentiality rules will be applied; the successful candidate will be required to undergo a security background check carried out by the Government of Canada.   

Essential Requirements

  • University graduation from a recognized institution or equivalent
  • A high level of both written and oral fluency in English
  • Proficiency in MS office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other computer applications
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and be in possession of a valid Pakistan driver's license
  • Minimum two(2) years of office administration experience working in a similar environment  

Desirable Qualifications

  • Ability to read / write / speak other languages such as French, Urdu, Dari, Punjabi, Sindi, Pashtu, Hindi, Russian
  • Good translation and interpretation skills
  • Work experience with finances and budgeting
  • Knowledge of society, customs, and laws of Pakistan and neighbouring countries
  • University courses in criminology, criminal law, or related subjects

A competition will be held to staff the position of Social Secretary to Head of Mission (HOM) on Indeterminate basis  in the Canadian High Commission. This position is classified at Asst-05 level, with a starting salary of PKR 54,686 per month, plus health care and other benefits.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

As a Social Secretary incumbent will be required to provide various duties including, secretarial, and clerical support to the HOM, as well as to the other Heads of Programs; to maintain the HOM agenda daily up to date; provide assistance and information to the Political and Commercial section concerning Pakistani protocol matters; to provide secretarial support for HOM correspondence; organize appointments with all Pakistani ministries and organizations for HOM; organize HOM social events;  organize the Official Residence representation activities; Manage and supervise all of the Official Residence Staff; Act as intermediary between Official Residence, HOM and Mission Management section on staff, property and Material matters; and perform other related duties.
This competition is open to individuals, with the following qualifications.  

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. University degree from a recognized university and a minimum of two years work experience in a related area,
  2. Strong computer skills in a Windows-based work environment are necessary; 
  3. Effective communication skills in English, and Urdu (written and oral). The ability to communicate in French will be an asset; Language skills will be tested during the interview.
  4. Excellent planning, organizational and interpersonal skills;
  5. Possess initiative, integrity, flexibility, adaptability and good interpersonal skills and be willing to travel within Pakistan.
  6. Able to provide two professional references including current employer who could be contacted by the High Commission.

  1. Ability to coordinate conflicting priorities within tight deadlines;
  2. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment;
  3. Ability to analyze and interpret information to make informed decisions;
  4. Ability to communicate quickly and clearly, both orally and in writing;
