J. Crew:Supply Chain Applications Software Engineering Manager

Directs a team of systems software, integration and database engineers involved in the analysis, design, development and implementation of supply chain systems software. Generates supply chain systems software engineering policies, standards and procedures. Is viewed as an expert in warehouse management and transportation management systems engineering. Makes well-thought out decisions on complex or ambiguous software engineering issues. Ensures system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency. Designs, develops, tests, debugs and implements complex operating system components software tools, and utilities. Supervises database engineers in the analysis, design and maintenance of databases including performance tuning. Ability to make complex modifications to existing software to fit specialized needs and configurations. Establishes and communicates common goal and direction for team. Acts as a source of direction, training and guidance for team associates. Monitors project schedule and costs. Requires 6 to 10 years experience. Experience with Red Prairie Warehouse Management application a plus.
Technical Skills:
Manage the design, development, implementation and maintenance of J. Crew's Supply Chain Applications.
Assume primary design/coding responsibility for one or more functional subsets of system software.
Proven experience in life cycle application development with the ability to generate application development policies, standards and procedures.
Develop utilities, procedures, and documentation upon customer requirements
Maintain application release control (version control).
Assist in supporting application installation and upgrade, including third party integration and hardware configuration.
Working with varying software development and deployment packages, Radio Frequency Terminals, Specialty Printers would be a plus.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field, or equivalent experience in a technology-related field. Masters degree preferred.
At least 6 years of software development experience as a programmer analyst, with 3GL and 4GL programming languages, relational databases, web tools, client-server graphical user interface (GUI), PL/SQL, and Windows technologies
Experience with one or more of the following: C/C ++, SQL and/or PLSQL, UNIX, Oracle 10g, Java, Visual Basic, VB.net, Uniface
Excellent problem solving skills, particularly with regard to anticipating and solving problems, issues, or concerns before they occur or become critical.
Knowledge of varying software development and deployment packages, Radio Frequency Terminals, Specialty Printers would be a plus.
Background/knowledge of networking and remote desktop and FTP
Experience with Red Prairie applications and the MOCA language would be a plus.
Interpersonal Skills:
Able to work effectively both alone and in team/cooperative development efforts.
Management & organizational skills (managing queue, clients and equipment)
Good networking and team building skills
Strong organizational and communication skills
Qualifications
Good written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills with internal and external customers.
Able to learn Supply Chain concepts and progress in technical and general business skills. Actual background/knowledge in Supply Chain applications would be a plus.
Consistently demonstrates a solid foundation of problem-solving technique to resolve complex issues
